Okanagan International Marathon 2005

Thanks to all participants who completed the 2005 Okanagan Marathon and for supporting the Sunshine Foundation. Finisher shirts and medals are being mailed out on October 31st to all participants who did not receive their commemorative material after the event.

We thank the participants for their patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.

DATE AND TIME
Sunday, October 9, 2005 at 7:30am
Walk Marathon and Half Marathon begin at 7:00 am
10K and Half Marathon begin at 7:30 am
Marathon begins at 8:00 am

PLACE AND COURSE
The race begins and ends at Kelowna’s City Park. The course is flat running mainly through the City’s north end and along Lakeshore and Gordon Drive.

RACE KITS
Race kits are available at the Athlete Village

  • Friday, October 7 from 3:00pm to 5:00pm
  • Saturday, October 8 from 9:00am to 6:00pm.
  • Race number pick-up available from 6:00am to 7:00am, Sunday, October 9.

BAG CHECK
Bag check will be available at race start. Pickup will be at Athlete Village, City Park. Runners must mark bags and present race number for pickup

MEDICAL
Medical services are available at the finish line and on the course. Medical personnel include doctors, chiropractors, massage therapists and physiotherapists.

BOSTON QUALIFIER
The Okanagan International Marathon is a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon.

RESULTS
Results will be posted after the race (Monday, October 10, 2005) and results will be available at the Running Room web site: www.runningroom.com

AGE GROUPS
Under 19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 6-69, 70+

AID STATIONS
Aid stations will be posted approximately every mile (1.6 km). Food and refreshments will be available at the finish line.

T-SHIRTS
All runners will be given their t-shirts in their race packages. Runners who register after October 1st are not guaranteed correct sizing.

FRIENDSHIP RUN
9:00am, Saturday, October 8, Athlete Village, City Park. Enjoy presentations on fitness from Running Room president John Stanton and a 3K easy run along Kelowna’s waterfront with light refreshments to follow.

$10.00 COUPON
As an added bonus when you register Online for the Okanagan International Marathon, the Running Room will send you a $10.00 coupon which can be used towards any purchase of $50.00 or more at the Running Room. The coupon will be sent as a PDF attachment to your confirmation upon successful completion of online registration.

PANCAKE PRIMER
8:30 am to 11 am, Saturday, October 8, Athlete Village,City Park. Buffet includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage, coffee, juice, and sport drink. $5 per person. children under four free.

COURSE AND WINERY TOUR
Departure times are 11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm Saturday, October 8, begins and ends at Athlete Village, City Park. Tour of marathon and half marathon course with a stop at St. Hubertus Winery. OIM souvenir bottles of wine available. $25 course tour and OIM souvenir wine, $15 course tour only, $15 OIM souvenir wine only. There is also a non-winery tour at 11:00am.

KIDS RUN FOR KIDS
12:00 noon, Saturday, October 8, Athlete Village, City Park. Free run/walk for kids and their families in support of Sunshine Dreams for Kids. Prizes, mascots and family concert afterward. Free refreshments. Pledge charity forms available at: www.runningroom.com

PASTA PRIMER DINNER
3:00pm to 5:00pm, Saturday, October 8, Athlete Village, City Park. Buffet includes all-you-can-eat pasta, salad, bread, fresh fruit, coffee and sports drink. $15 per person. Children under four free.
At 4 p.m. meet John Stanton, author and owner of the Running Room and John McDonald, OIM Race Director. Be inspired and ask questions about the race.
