The Mini Mites Marathon
Fun Run

focus of the Manitoba Marathon. Open to children five
years of age and under and set to start 30 minutes (6:30
a.m.), before "the big people" go, they too will get the
taste of the Manitoba Marathon experience, right at the
Start Line. Wearing special #1 runner numbers, our mighty

of a lifetime of memories. There is a limited pre-registration

The Great-West Life
2.6 mile Super Run
Join 4,000 runners - kids, adults, and seniors alike -
in a wonderful taste of the Marathon experience, complete
with a full refreshment station, and the excitement of
the Marathon Start and Finish lines. With the Super Run
starting just after the Marathon, Half, and Relay, you
can root for your friends and family at the start, and
you will be at University Stadium to see them finish.
Growing every year, look for our four "wave starts"; again
this year!
To reduce congestion with the Walk and Half Marathon,
2004 Super Runners will see a course change. The Start
Line moves to the "Half Marathon side" (the west side)
of University Crescent, and the course will run in the
reverse direction from 2003. Runners will return on the
EAST side (the Marathon side) of University Crescent,
then the south side of Chancellor Matheson, before finishing
on the University Stadium track. |

The Free Press 10K Walk
The 10K Walk heads out and back along the first 5 kilometers
of the Manitoba Marathon course, with a turn-around at
scenic Crescent Drive Park. Plan for a brisk walk or a
leisurely stroll -- choose your own fitness challenge,
and experience the thrill of participating in the Manitoba
Marathon!
The start time of the 10K walk will change in 2004, to
start right after the last of the Super Run waves, at
approximately 7:23 a.m. Walkers will also start on the
west side of University Crescent (the Half Marathon /
Super Run side), and will return on the east side of University
Crescent, then the south side of Chancellor Matheson,
before finishing on the University Stadium track. Course
marshals will assist in ensuring that walkers and runners
get to the proper side of University Crescent.

The Marathon Relay
You and four friends can make a team commitment to train
together, and share the experience of covering the entire
Marathon course, as a relay team. Five runners cover the
26.2 mile Marathon course, running about 5 miles each,
with handoffs at the four best parties on the Marathon
course -- the Relay stations. The Manitoba Marathon offers
special team categories for Elementary, Junior High and
High School teams, and for Friends & Neighbours. Not only
can you run together, you can work as a team to collect
pledges for people who live with an intellectual disability
in Manitoba. |

The Intrepid Dezine
13.1 mile Half Marathon
All the benefits of the Marathon, and only half the distance
and calories! Join over 3,000 runners in covering the
first six miles of our scenic Marathon course, before
breaking off and rejoining the Marathon course for the
last five miles, back to the University Stadium Finish,
where you will receive your special Finisher Medal (new
for 2004). The Half Marathon is open to wheelchair athletes.

Our School Programs
New participants in the Manitoba Marathon tell us that
they are stunned with the astonishing number of young
runners, almost 3,500 in 2003, who grace our event every
year, and make this a true community and family event.
It starts with the hundreds of teachers and volunteers
who organize Manitoba Marathon Countdown 26 School Running
Clubs in Manitoba after the Easter long weekend.
