Welcome Home Night
Re-Opening the Regina Running Room, closed by Tanning Bed Fire Last January
REGINA, SK-July 3, 2009 – The Regina Running Room will officially re-open again at 2118 Albert Street on July 8th. Smoke damage from a fire in a tanning bed at a tanning salon next door to the company on January 19, 2009 forced the running store to relocate to smaller quarters a few blocks to the north for the past six months.
The event will be dedicated to Regina’s firefighters who were instrumental in saving the Running Room from further damage. Opening Night’s weekly Wednesday 6:00 p.m. Practice Session will become a special event to benefit the Saskatchewan Professional Firefighters Association Burn Fund (Burn Fund).
“Our temporary location just wasn’t the same for our community. Regina’s runners and walkers are absolutely ecstatic about going back home,” said Running Room Saskatchewan Area Manager Rob Close. “The strip mall location has been our home since we first opened in Regina in February 2000.”
Running Room founder and author John Stanton will visit Regina to lead the event. Saskatchewan Professional Firefighters Association Calendar Models will be in attendance as special guests, including newly-chosen models for the unreleased 2010 calendar.

THANK YOU Regina Firefighters, runners and walkers for all your support and loyalty since the fire. As our way of saying thanks, the Running Room invites you to stay for great post-run/walk food, cake and refreshments.
Since being established in 1974, the Saskatchewan Professional Fire Fighter Association Burn Fund has raised over $6 million for ongoing funding of our two state-of-the art burn units in Regina and Saskatoon, the Hyperbaric chamber in Moose Jaw, continuing education for nurses and doctors in the province for burn care and treatment, along with our public awareness programs on burn safety and prevention. All funds that are raised in our province stay in Saskatchewan for burn care and treatment.
