Positions

  • Race Package Pick Up: Volunteer is present during Race Package Pick Up dates noted on the race registration page. Volunteer can be available for one, or two of the days.
  • Course Cyclist: Lead the race on race day! The Run Series requires cyclists to lead the race start for all course distances. Must be an experienced cyclist, be able to ride in rain or shine and cycle on all terrain. Winter cycling is an asset.
  • Course Marshall: A leadership position in charge of a small group of volunteers which are divided by the stationary tasks below. Course Marshalls will be responsible for their volunteer team placement on course and to be aware of the race day schedule. Course Marshall's should arrive 2 hours before the race start, and stay up to 2 hours after the race closes.
  • Start/Finish Line: Volunteer is responsible for race logistics, public management and to be a helping hand at the start and finish lines of the race. Answer race questions, point participants in the right direction, hand out finishers medals, or help out the charities onsite. The Start and Finish line is where the excitement and party begins! Start/Finish Line volunteers should arrive 2 hours before the race start, and stay up to 2 hours after the race closes.
  • Set Up/Take Down: Volunteer is responsible for the set up and take down of the course including the laying of pylons and the dismantling of the course post-race. Volunteer must station a section of the course during the race to ensure any kicked, squished or damaged pylon is either replaced or removed from the course during the race. Set Up/Take Down volunteers should arrive 2 hours before the race begins, and stay up to 2 hours after the race closes.
  • Clean Up Crew: Volunteer is responsible for cleanup of course garbage, lost belongings and any hazards left on the Spruce Meadows grounds post-race. Clean Up Crew should arrive at the race start and stay up to 2 hours after the race closes.
  • Water Station: Volunteer is responsible for filling up cups with water prior to race and passing cups to runners as they go by the water station. Clean up of dropped cups or loose garbage is also required throughout the event as well as post-race water station clean up. Don't forget to cheer on the runners as they pass by! Water Station volunteers should arrive 1 hour before the race start, and stay up to 2 hours after the race closes.
  • Direction Control: Volunteer is responsible for the intersection or crossover lines they are stationed at on course. Loud voices are a plus! Make sure the runners stay on course, do not get lost, or end up in places they are not supposed to be. Direction Control volunteers should arrive 1 hour before race start, and stay until race close.
