If you were not able to participate in the in-person race, virtual race registration is still open until September 30th, 2021.

Due to the uncertainty around the COVID-19 Pandemic, if the in-person event cannot proceed as planned, it will be switched to a virtual race. In the case of cancellation of the in-person race, we will not be issuing any refunds. You will still receive your race kit and can complete your 5KM on your own and submit your results.

The in-person race will be hosted at Heritage Park in Barrie. The route will be an out-and-back style course that starts and ends at Heritage Park.

To help reduce crowding we ask that you wait in your car and show up at the start line as close to your scheduled starting time as possible. For instance if your starting time is at 8:00am, we would like to you show up ready to race at 7:59am. Please DO NOT show up more than 5 minutes ahead of your scheduled starting time. Each wave will take 5 minutes to cross the start line so you will have plenty of time to start the race from when you arrive.

When you arrive you should already have your bib attached to the front of your shirt with the number visible. It is important you pick up your race kit before the race so that you can ensure you have your bib ahead of time. Please double check that your bib has a large orange sticker on the back (this is your timing chip).

If you need to pick up your bib or race kit you can arrive 10 minutes ahead of your starting time. However, this must be pre-approved by the race director and we strongly urge you to pick up your race kit BEFORE Sunday.


There will be no aid stations on course. If you require water we ask that you please carry water with you. We will have bottled water available at the finish line.

To help limit the number of people one the race course we will have a limited number of race marshals. Please make sure that you follow all arrows and directional cues. Odyssey Medical will be biking on the course to ensure the safety of race participants.

The race course follows along Barrie's scenic waterfront trail. It is a fast and flat out and back style route. The route can be viewed at this link: https://www.plotaroute.com/route/1669643


To help manage crowding you will need to exit the venue immediately after completing your race. You will not be permitted to stay at the race venue after you cross the finish line. This will help ensure that we have less than 100 people at the venue at a given time. Results will be available online at Speed River Timing. Prize packs for age category winners will be available for pickup at the Barrie Running Room following the race.

Medals will be given to all runners ahead of the race and we will not be placing medals on your neck.


We will not be having spectators this year. If you have supporters who want to cheer you on, maybe they'd consider volunteering for our race crew during your race? Sign up HERE.


Masks will be mandatory anywhere that social distancing isn't possible. You will be required to wear a mask while you are waiting to start your race and after you finish. There will be designated mask on and mask off zones at the start/finish line.

The race start and finish line will located at Heritage Park in Barrie (6 Simcoe St Barrie, ON L4M 1L6).


There are paid parking lots available downtown Barrie near the event site. Most of the paid parking lots in Barrie are free on the weekends. Paid Parking is only enforced Mon-Fri 9am-5pm. However, it is important to check all signage before you park as some areas still require payment or have restrictions.

Race participants will be able to use the Heritage Park washrooms that are located at the starting area. There will be no portable toilets on course.

All race kits MUST be picked up before race day. All event participants will be expected to show up to the race with their bib already attached to their person.

Race kit pickup dates and time:

Race kit pickup will be hosted at the BARRIE RUNNING ROOM. You may pickup your race kit during any of the scheduled times listed below:

Wednesday, September 8th: 11AM - 2PM

Thursday, September 9th: 5PM - 7PM

Friday, September 10th 3PM - 7PM

Saturday, September 11th 10AM - 4PM

All race participants will receive 15% off all regular priced footwear, apparel, and accessories at the Barrie Running Room Store.

Start times for the race will be announced closer to the event date. In order to maintain physical distancing runners will be spaced out in starting waves based on your predicted finish time. All runners will be given their starting wave time once registration closes. The first starting wave will go out at 7:30AM.

Since the start of the pandemic, VR Pro has made the health and safety of the running community our top priority. From keeping runners motivated through virtual races to hosting safe curb-side race kit pickups, we have been working hard to keep you safe, motivated and healthy.

COVID-19 has had a large impact on our community and it still continues to pose a threat to the health and safety of our runners. As we begin to return to in-person races and events we want to do our part to help keep the community and the cities we operate in safe.

Given the steady supply of vaccines available in Ontario, VR Pro has made the decision to make vaccines mandatory for participation in our in-person races. Meaning that in order to participate in our live races you must be fully vaccinated. This will allow us to host safer in-person events and help stop the spread of COVID-19.

If you are not comfortable with getting the vaccine, or if you are not sure about participating in an in-person event we will continue to have a virtual option available for all of our races.

  3. Use your credit card to pay your registration fee! Transactions processed securely.
  4. You will receive a confirmation Email, outlining your application and payment details.

  • All entries are non-refundable and non-transferable.
