Information:

The Fort Garry Rotary Club is pleased to present the 3rd Annual Fort Garry Rotary (FGR) Half Marathon on Sunday September 21st, 2014. The marathon will raise funds for The Knowles Centre and other Rotary sponsored community projects. It will also provide an opportunity for runners to test
the results of their summer training, try for personal bests and provide a practice run for those planning to run full or half marathons in the fall and winter.

The Race:

  • Race is Half Marathon only.
  • Race Day is Sunday, September 21st, 2014.
  • Start time 8:00 am.
  • Chip Timing on Certified Course.
  • Platinum race as sanctioned by the Runners Association of Manitoba

T-Shirt:

  • All participants will be guaranteed a free shirt.
  • Unisex shirt size: S, M, L, XL, XXL

Route


Water and Aid Stations:


Water stations will be located every 2 miles. Each water station will double up for both out and back runners. In addition to the start and finish line, toilets will be located at miles 3 and 9 doubled up for out and back runners, and at mile 6.

Garbage and litter Garbage


Bins will be located at the start/finish site and on both sides of each water station. In order to maintain the beauty and cleanliness of the area, runners are asked to drop their litter either directly in the bins provided or within the water station area to facilitate clean-up by the volunteers.


Safety, Security and Traffic Control


There will be police officers controlling traffic at three intersections. The other intersections will be controlled by volunteer race marshals. For your safety and for the safety of your fellow runners please obey the marshals' directions and be courteous to the public who may want to use the roadway. Volunteers from St. Johns Ambulance will be patrolling the race course on bikes. If you experience difficulty or see anyone else who may need help please report to one of our St. Johns Ambulance volunteers and ask for assistance. A nurse and doctor will be stationed at the start/finish line.


Transportation and Parking


Parking at St. Vital Park is limited and will be available on a first come, first serve basis. There is parking located on residential streets close to the park and at the Shapes/Staples strip mall on Pembina Hwy.


Dry Clothing check


Please pack your dry clothing in the race kit bag. Tag it with the identity label provided as a tear off part from the bib. Drop the bag in the truck parked at the start line. At the end of the race you can collect your bag at the finish line.

Proceeds from this race will go to the Knowles Centre and Rotary sponsored Projects.
